Maybe swallowing Shroomish copied its powers and made archen immune to the spore. Or maybe it was the fact that archen forgot to breath momentarily. Just another one of its amazing qualities that drove it to extinction.

Seeing the peach blossoms as unexpected enemies archen began running around crunching each. Occasionally it'd manage to get a mouthful of dirt with each.

"Archen stop! Bad boy! Use dragon breath!" Despite Lucas' pleas the archen continued its meaningless attack on the blossoms.

The explosions dotted archen's body. It fell limp to the ground, battered and bruised from Priam's strategic genius. The roots from leech seed shrivel up and break away with archen's decline in health.

"Guess you do."

Lucas returned the archen to its pokeball in a flash of crimson light. In place of its body is now a pile of chewed peach blossoms covered in a sprinkling of dirt.
